Yesterday a good friend of my deceased father-in-law passed. I only knew him through the close friendship my father-in-law had with him, but I knew him by face and saw him occasionally at family gatherings in our home town in past years. Apple’s Mac App Store launched earlier this year with much fanfare, but I am not impressed and won’t be using the store. And not for the reasons you think. I understand the reasoning for the Mac App Store and completely agree with Apples decision to launch it. For Apple it’s a no-brainer. They get a percent of every sale and can better influence some of the applications that will run on OS X. And no one can argue the success they are still enjoying with the iOS App Store.
